2022 Nitto ATP Finals LIVE on Buzzer!

2022 Nitto ATP Finals LIVE on Buzzer!

What are the Nitto ATP Finals?

The Nitto ATP Finals, tennis’ biggest tournament of the 2022 season, kicked off this Sunday, the 13th, at the Pala Alpitour in Turin. The Nitto ATP Finals features the top 8 players in the world, competing at the highest level to cap off some of the best competition tennis has to offer.

The tournament features some of the best tennis stories from this year:

  • Nadal’s eleventh attempt in a career-long chase for his first Nitto ATP Finals title
  • Djokovic’s hope to get his all-time tying sixth Nitto ATP Finals win
  • Auger-Aliassime’s strong lead-up to the finals culminating into a world title
  • Taylor Fritz’s breakout season continuing in a potential eighth-seed upset

These are just some of the exciting moments we plan to follow this tournament.

The Finals features the best 8 players from the season and a roster of ascending young players mixed with some familiar faces (all who can be followed on Buzzer) including: Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Andrey Rublev, Novak Djokovic, and Taylor Fritz.

Here’s who we’re looking out for:

Rafael Nadal

Coming into the tournament, Nadal’s availability for the tournament was less than certain. The tennis giant sports a 38-6 record and four title wins this year despite not playing in as many matches as his tournament opponents due to mid-season injuries. Nadal started this season in legendary fashion, with a career best start in an ATP Tour Season. He notched up 20 straight wins and titles in Roland Garros, Acapulco, Australian Open and Melbourne.

Nadal hopes to finish his 2022 season off with a first-ever Nitto ATP Finals title.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

The Greek standout Tsitsipas returns to the Turin Finals as the number two seed, a year after having to withdraw with a right-elbow injury. Tsitsipas sports a 60-22 record this season with titles in Mallorca and Monte Carlo. However, Tsitsipas hopes to either avoid or beat Djokovic, who has gotten the best of him this year with two wins in the Astana and Rome tournaments, and most recently a gruelling semi-finals loss to Djokovic in Paris.

Stefanos hopes to add a 2nd Nitto ATP Finals title to his resume to back up his win in 2019, and strengthen his resume.

Felix Auger-Aliassime

The 22 year-old Canadian phenom Felix Auger-Aliassime makes his Nitto ATP Finals Debut this weekend, after going 56-25 this season with four titles (including a three-title run) in Basel, Antwerp, Florence and Rotterdam. He improved his ranking to 6th after a 16 match win streak was cut short in a disappointing loss to Holger Rune in the Paris Masters Semi Finals.  Felix sports impressive records against the best, including other top players in the tournament (3-0 vs Carlos Alcaraz and 1-1 with Djokovic).

Auger-Aliassime hopes to continue his hot streak with a finals win in his debut.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic hopes to add to a career-long resume of successful finishes to his ATP Tour season. The veteran legend has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in fifteen seasons, winning five titles. He sports a decorated 41-17 career finals record, and hopes to tie Federer’s record six finals titles this season. Like Nadal, the Serbian has not played as many games as some of the younger stars this season, boasting a 37-7 record. Following two back-to-back title wins in Tel Aviv and Astana against Cilic and Tsitsipas, Holger Rune took down Djokovic in a thriller final match.

Djokovic’s late year momentum has helped push him to victory in the season finale in the past, he’s hoping for similar success this time.
